Educational Services

 

  • Adult Basic Education - An open-entry program designed to provide individual instruction in basic math, reading and life skills to those who test below a 6.0 on the CASAS test.
  • High School Equivalency (HSE) - An open entry-program which will prepare an individual for the HSE test as well as life skills. Program entry is based upon a CASAS score of 9.0 or above.
  • High School Diploma (HSD) - An open entry-program which will prepare an individual to qualify for an HSD.  To be qualified to receive a Nevada Adult Standard Diploma an individual must have a total of 13 units for required courses and a total of 7 1/2 units for elective courses. Minimum Required Courses include   American Government, American History, Arts and Humanities, or Career and Technical Education, English, Health Education, Mathematics, Science and use of Computers.
  • English as Second Language (ESL) -An open entry-program designed to teach English to speakers of other languages.
  • Special Education - Provides screening diagnosis and individualized instruction for learning disabled, behavior disordered, and mentally challenged students under the age of 21.
  • Title I - Comprises instruction for neglected and delinquent learners less than 21 years of age in math, reading, writing and entry level vocational programs.
  • College Certificate of Achievement - Must be obtained by an accredited college or university.  Certificate Requirements include 30 total units
  • College Industry Skills Certificates - Must be obtained by an accredited college or university.  Prepares individuals for industry recognized certification in the Applied Sciences and Technical Fields.
  • Associate of Arts (AA) Degree -  An undergraduate degree  is awarded after a course of post-secondary study lasting two or three years. It is a level of qualification between a high school diploma or HSE and a bachelor's degree. Minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 GPA or better for all courses used to meet the degree requirements.  Degree Requirements include 60 total units. AA degrees are earned in the liberal arts and sciences such as humanities and social science fields;  
  • Associate in Science Degree (AS) Degree -An undergraduate degree  is awarded after a course of post-secondary study lasting two or three years. It is a level of qualification between a high school diploma or HSE and a bachelor's degree. Minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 GPA or better for all courses used to meet the degree requirements.  Degree Requirements include 60 total units.  AS degrees are earned in applied scientific and technical fields and professional fields of study.
