Vision, Goals, and Principles

EDUCATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT VISION

 
1.    The goal for this department is for every released offender to have, at minimum, a High School Equivalency (HSE).
2.    Every offender will have the opportunity to enroll in Adult Basic Education, HSD, and Industry Recognized vocational programs. to assist in their chosen career pathway.
3.    Embrace diversity and recognize the value and dignity of stakeholders, including multiple state departments, school districts, colleges,  community organizations, NDOC staff, and offenders.

1.    Treat everyone with respect and dignity
2.    Be accessible, transparent, and accountable
3.    Include state agencies, partners and stakeholders from our communities who have the educational and vocational expertise needed to ensure offenders the opportunity to earn HSDs, and vocational certification necessary to secure sustainable employment upon release.
4.    Pursue our mission and vision with integrity, act in a professional and ethical manner, be responsible for our actions, and raise the department to the highest standards.

NDOC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT GOALS

1.    Operate Educational Programs at full capacity.
2.    Upon arrival and during Intake every offender will create and be held accountable for their ICPP.
3.    Work with colleges to offer post-secondary degrees and industry recognized certificates (PELL Grant will be reinstated 2023s).
4.    Prior to release offenders will have the opportunity to earn in addition to school districts and colleges certificates, required industry formal certification.
5.    Maintain industry standards and industry best practices.
