      Historical

      Ely Conservation Camp was constructed in 1984. The camp is located approximately seventeen miles south of Ely on Horse and Cattle Camp Road. The camp houses minimum security inmates.

        Staffing

        Ely Conservation Camp employs twelve staff members:

        • 1 Correctional Lieutenant
        • 1 Correctional Sergeant
        • 1 Senior Correctional Officer
        • 1 Correctional Caseworker
        • 8 Correctional Officers

          Capacity

          Ely Conservation Camp's inmate capacity is 150.

            Programs: Vocational Training, Educational Opportunities, and Treatment Services

            Ely Conservation Camp has two full time teachers who help the inmate population earn a G.E.D. or high school diploma. Nevada Department of Forestry helps to train the inmates in a variety of skills, including: fire fighting, mechanics, fence rebuilding, concrete work, and building remodeling. The education department ensures that all inmates attend a Safe Serve class for culinary work prior to working in or around the kitchen. The Ely Conservation Camp caseworker teaches an Anger Management class. Other classes offered are New Beginnings and Financial Literacy.
